Flickr: Still The Best Online Photo Option

Flickr turns 10 today, and without a doubt they are still the best option out there for storing/sharing your photos. I have over 91,000 photos in my Flickr account, and I’ve been using it since 2008. I’ve tried some other options such as Shutterfly, but nothing works as good as Flickr. Flickr stores your full quality photos, they have a great API so you can easily re-download your photos, or use the API to display them on websites.

Bicycle Commuter

“Of every 100 American commuters, five take public transit, three walk, and only one rides a bicycle to work or school.” I’m very fortunate enough to be close enough and have a community that is conducive to bike riding. I also have to bike through snow in the winter.

But honestly, biking is just as fast as driving for me, so it makes total sense.

Free Websites

It’s tough to find a way to have a free website – but here is a great option that reminds me of when I was a kid and got started with a 50mb site. Neocities has 10mb sites and allows to you write your own html/css/javascript. It is free to sign-up so it’s great way to give anyone (especially kids) a space to try and make their own web site.

O’Brien Stadium TimeLapse Video

In the fall of 2011, my buddy Jay and I started planning the production of a time-lapse video of the construction on O’Brien Stadium here at EIU. 18 months later, after many issues, many problems and lots of time in a hot press box, the project is complete. Enjoy:

Good Work Isn’t Enough

Great post yesterday about how good work is not enough. I could not agree more. Whenever I have been involved in the hiring process, I’ve always put more weight into the person than their skills.

Take a read, it’s short and well written:

100,000 Plays

I just hit a big landmark on my Last.FM profile – 100,000 plays. That’s right, I’ve listened to a 100,000 songs since I started using last.fm in the fall of 2006. So it’s not my entire music history, but a glimpse at the last  7 years of my life.
